Sunday in the past was a day for worship and rest. A day to reconnect with God and family and to recollect our lives before beginning the week. In our overprogrammed world of today, I find far too many things being forced upon my family by outsiders attempting to steal that time away.
I just say "No!"
To the parents who have their children scheduled into too many activities (and no longer have evenings or Saturdays free so they only plan birthday parties and play dates for Sundays) - "I'm sorry, but we go to church and have family activities on Sunday."
To the schools and coaches who try to schedule events or practices on Sunday - "You are violating our First Amendment rights. You need to reschedule."
To the clubs and committees that want to schedule Sunday meetings - "I'm sorry, we won't be there. We will be in church."
I have taken back our family time to spend with God and each other and have no qualms about doing so.
When did booming bass, glass pack mufflers and front porch, late night parties with bottles and cans thrown all over all the neighbors lawns become acceptable?
Realistically? I'm not that old, but I do find the behaviors offensive.
Before Watertown invests any money into the Downtown Development, maybe we could structure some designated ghetto-hoods and mandate residence relocation for all the inconsiderate individuals who choose to desecrate what used to be quiet, residential neighborhoods.
Until that happens, however -
Home for sale. Many bonuses:
- Large fenced in backyard (6 ft. chainlink with a 4 ft. divider)
- Extremely short distance from fire station, elementary school, grocery store
- Three large bedrooms
- Detached garage
- Dining room, living room, library, kitchen, laundry room
- Full-size attic
I'm relocating somewhere quiet.
If you're talking about the neighborhood we shared not long ago, I truly understand your frustration. read more
